I love French pressed coffee. It just is different than other brewing methods – it makes a rich dense cup. French press is so rich and dense because there is no paper filter. You end up with more natural oils in your coffee which can create a rich mouth feel and deep smooth flavor.
Heat water to around 205 degrees, just under boiling.
Pour some water into your French press to warm it up.
Grind your coffee coarsely – like the texture of coarse breadcrumbs and measure 8 tablespoons.
Dump the excess water from the French press. Put 8 T of coffee in and fill halfway with 205-degree water. Let it steep for one minute
After the minute is up, stir with a wooden spoon or a coffee paddle and fill the press up the rest of the way with water. Put on the lid but do not push down the plunger.
Let steep for 3 more minutes.
When those 3 minutes are up, press the plunger down and enjoy!
